Beaded Jewelry & Art Designer Based in Houston, TX

Sonia Davis is a Houston-based artist and jewelry designer known for transforming tiny beads into bold, textural works of art. Working primarily on canvas, she layers seed beads—often alongside bugles, crystals, and gemstone accents—to create intricate, custom portraits and statement pieces that shimmer with light and movement. Her work explores joy, heritage, and personal storytelling, inviting viewers to experience color, pattern, and contour the way a painter would—only bead by bead.

A self-taught maker with a refined eye for design, Sonia approaches each commission like a collaboration. She studies reference images, maps values for tones, shades, and highlights, then hand-places thousands of beads to sculpt dimension across skin, fabric, and hair. This painterly technique gives her canvases depth and presence from across the room, while rewarding close-up viewing with meticulous detail and impeccable craftsmanship.

Beyond canvas, Sonia designs jewelry with the same precision—clean lines, intentional color palettes, and meaningful stones. Her studio, The Jewelry Instructor®, doubles as a creative classroom where she teaches beadwork, metalsmithing foundations, and hands-on workshops for adults and kids. Whether guiding a first-time maker or a seasoned creative, she brings patience, humor, and clear instruction that demystify complex techniques and build confidence at the bench.

Community is central to Sonia’s practice. Through her nonprofit initiatives and partnerships, she champions access to the arts—offering experiences that help people express themselves, quiet stress, and connect with others. From after-school programs to team-building events, her mission is simple: creativity belongs to everyone, and beautiful things happen when we make together.

Today, Sonia continues to expand her body of work with custom bead-on-canvas portraits, limited-edition jewelry releases, and studio experiences that celebrate personal story. Each piece is an invitation—to look closer, to feel texture, and to see how small, deliberate choices can build something powerful. For commissions, classes, or collaborations, Sonia welcomes collectors and creators who value artistry, detail, and design with heart.
